GMIT celebrated its Opening Ceremony of New Academic Year and awarded scholarships to 95 students
The Opening Ceremony of New Academic Year 2022-2023 of the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT), was successfully organized and awarded shcholarship recipents.
In line with striving to become a research-based, leading model university, the university aims to provide a wide range of scholarships which are financed by German and Mongolian government to GMIT students every year.
This academic year, total of 95 students received various types of scholarships. Specifically, 6 senior received DAAD TNB scholarships to study at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany for one semester, and 28 students received DAAD Surplace scholarships, which cover tuition and living expenses. Furthermore, 57 students received GMIT scholarship funded by the Government of Mongolia, also 4 students received scholarships from the German company "HEITKAMP".
This academic year, regardless of the pandemic situation (COVID-19), the types and number of scholarships have increased, and about 40 percent of total students received tuition fee and living expenses scholarships. 48 students received scholarships from the DAAD, and 62 students received scholarships from the GMIT supported by Mongolian Government.
During the ceremony, management team members of GMIT, represantatives of Ministry of Education and Science, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and German partner universities including TU Bergakademie Freiberg, RWTH Aachen University Brandenburgische Technische Universität wished success in their studies to our students.
In addition to providing scholarships to a number of students in each semester, it offers a 14-day Summer School with international students in Germany and China, a semester exchange program at a partner university in Germany, and a 14 weeks paid internship at German companies.
In this way, the GMIT provides the opportunity for students and graduates to work internationally in leading enterprises in line with world-class engineers, continue to learn for advanced studies in the abroad and apply domestic and international scholarships.
The GMIT with a slogan of “German expertise – Mongolian talent” awarded the International Program of Accreditation Certificate from Quality Seal of the Accreditation, Certification and Quality assurance Institute ACQUIN in 2019. The accredited study programs are Mechanical Engineering, Raw Material and Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Furthermore, 2 new bachelor programs which are Mechatronic Engineering and Energy and Electrical Engineering started from 2020-2021 academic year at GMIT. All these study programs are taught a 100 percent in English.
