Academic & Student Affairs

GMIT offers a wide range of services to students to support their academic and personal growth, tailored to each student's unique needs and interests. The Academic and Student Services Department (ASA) closely monitors students' progress and encourages them to reach out for assistance with their studies and personal matters. ASA oversees student guidance, career services, the library, academic administration, scholarships, government loans, study data, administrative duties, dormitory management, and the alumni network.

Orientation Week: Before the start of the academic year, ASA hosts an orientation week for new students to help them adjust to student life at GMIT. Students will learn about campus rules, regulations, and receive detailed information and guidance to enhance their university experience.

"Out-of-the-box" Event: ASA arranges various lectures and seminars focused on students' personal development, including the "Innovative Thinking" event. This event has been held every semester since 2015 to bring together new and returning students. Students from different academic levels have the chance to interact with GMIT faculty, staff, and guest speakers for inspiration. Presenters engage in open discussions with students on topics chosen by GMIT students themselves, aiming to inspire and motivate.

Career Service: In 2017, ASA and the HR Department launched the Career Support Program to equip GMIT students with the skills needed for success in the Mongolian industry. The primary goal of this program is to aid students in achieving their career aspirations through a range of activities including career planning guidance, interview preparation, and assistance with CV & Cover Letter writing. This valuable service is accessible to all GMIT students at every academic level.

Financial Aid Opportunities: GMIT provides scholarships to support students in their academic endeavors and extracurricular pursuits, including GMIT scholarships and DAAD scholarships (link). During the fall semester of 2020-2021, approximately 40% of enrolled GMIT students received scholarships or financial assistance from the government. In addition to these opportunities, students have the option to work part-time at various locations within GMIT such as the Library, Computer Laboratory, and Language Center.

Academic Support: The Department of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) diligently oversees students' academic progress. Students facing challenges in their studies are encouraged to participate in personalized counseling sessions with ASA staff and faculty members. Together, tailored strategies and step-by-step guidance are developed to help students enhance their academic performance.
