Admissions at GMIT
The German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) accepts applications during a specified timeframe and chooses students for the Basic Engineering Program (BEP) and Bachelor of Science programs (B.Sc.) based on its enrollment process.
Admission Criteria for Basic Engineering Program and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) programs:
- Applicants must have finished their secondary education and hold the Mongolian General Entrance Exam (GEE) certificate from 2022-2024. If the certificate has expired, the applicant must retake the exam to be considered for admission.
- According to Ministry of Education, Mongolia's regulations, students who hold an international certificate or have studied at an international school in Mongolia must have their qualifications recognized by the General Department of Education of Mongolia.
- Bachelor Programs: a minimum score of 600 in both Mathematics, Physics and English of GEE (a strong B2 level in the GMIT English Entrance Exam).
- Basic Engineering Program (BEP): a score above 520 in Mathematics and Englsih of GEE (a B1 level in the GMIT English Entrance Exam).
- The GMIT English placement test is used to assess English proficiency in order to assign students to appropriate groups.
In accordance with GMIT's Admission and Enrollment Regulations, candidates are eligible for entry into GMIT's undergraduate programs if they have successfully passed the GMIT Admissions Interview and can demonstrate English proficiency at the advanced C1 level.
Those with an upper intermediate B2 level may be accepted conditionally, provided they prove C1 proficiency by the end of their first Bachelor semester. The requirement for the GMIT Admissions Interview may be waived if the student exhibits C1 level English proficiency or has excelled in National Olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or technology, or can provide evidence of similar academic achievements.
For transfer applicants from other universities to GMIT's bachelor's programs, the Admission Committee may consider alternative qualifications. These applicants must have completed at least one semester at their previous university. The GMIT Examination Board will assess credit recognition for bachelor's programs.

Admission - necessary documents:
Successful applicants meeting admission requirements must submit the following documents to finalize their application to GMIT:
- Original secondary education certificate. Applicants who completed their secondary education abroad or in international schools in Mongolia must have their certificates officially certified by the Ministry of Education, Mongolia;
- Original General Entrance Examination certificate (for Mongolian applicants);
- Resume in English;
- English language proficiency (required for international applicants);
- Copy of identification card or passport;
- Two recent photos taken within the last 3 months;
- For certificates in languages other than Mongolian and English, certified English translations are required.
Enrollment:
Applicants will be enrolled at GMIT upon signing a student contract and paying the semester's full tuition fee. When signing the contract, applicants should visit GMIT in person and bring the aforementioned required documents with them.
Basic Engineering Program (BEP):
If candidates do not meet the requirements for GMIT bachelor's studies admission, they may be considered for entry into the Basic Engineering Program (BEP). Typically, a total score of 520 in the Mathematics and Natural Science exam and English proficiency at the intermediate B1 level are the minimum requirements for admission to BEP.
