ÖSD Center & Language Learning
Studying at GMIT offers the incredible opportunity to pursue a degree in English, providing students with a competitive edge for Master’s programs or job applications abroad. Additionally, learning German at GMIT opens doors to internships, study abroad experiences, and employment in German-speaking countries. Like sports, language learning requires dedication and practice but can also be enjoyable.
ÖSD Testing Center
The Language Center is home to the ÖSD Testing Center in Mongolia (established in 2024) with the goal of administering the ÖSD exam, a globally recognized assessment for German as a Foreign Language and German as a Second Language.
The ÖSD, short for "Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch" (Austrian German Language Diploma) and also "Österreich, Schweiz, Deutschland" (Austria, Switzerland, Germany), recognizes the diversity of the German language in its evaluations. All exams equally represent the standard varieties of German spoken in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany by incorporating texts from these countries in reading and listening tasks. GMIT offers ÖSD exams ranging from level A1 to C2, aligning with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) standards. ÖSD certificates are globally acknowledged and provide new opportunities such as easing university admissions in German-speaking countries, participating in exchange programs, and securing internships in Germany.
