KAIST–GMIT Overseas Program Held in Mongolia

The KAIST Overseas Program, jointly organized by the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), officially commenced on August 10, 2026, at the GMIT campus in Nalaikh.
Throughout the program, participants are taking part in interactive sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Programming, and Graphics, while also engaging in activities introducing Korean culture and society.
The program provides a valuable opportunity for students from GMIT and KAIST to engage in "cultural exchange, teamwork, knowledge sharing, and networking".
Participants: The KAIST delegation consists of 20 members, including an Associate Vice President, three staff members, and 16 students.
On the Mongolian side, students from GMIT, the National University of Mongolia (NUM), and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST), together with 12th-grade students from Nalaikh District, are participating in the program, with a total of around 70 participants.
Technology and Cultural Exchange: KAIST students are divided into three teams focusing on AI, Programming, and Graphics, and are conducting IT education sessions for the participants.
Participants rotate through all three subject areas, providing them with opportunities to gain new knowledge and practical skills while developing "teamwork and cross-cultural learning experiences".
In addition, Korean Culture Introduction sessions are being held to introduce participants to Korean culture and society.
Program Duration: The KAIST–GMIT Overseas Program is being held from August 10 to 21, 2026, at the GMIT campus in Nalaikh.
GMIT and KAIST signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 21, 2022. The Overseas Program is part of the ongoing cooperation between the two institutions, supporting technology education, international exchange, and cultural exchange among students.
The program will conclude with a "Closing Ceremony & Cultural Exchange (Performance)", where participants will share their experiences and learning gained throughout the program.
