A ceremony was organized to lay the foundation for GMIT’s new teaching and research building
On April 17 2024, a foundation laying ceremony was conducted for the extension of the Teaching and Research Building at the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology campus. Attendees at the ceremony were Minister of the Education and Science L. Enkh-Amgalan, Adviser to the Minister, Chair of the Board of Governors D. Terbishdagva, H.E. Helmut Kulitz Ambassador of Germany to Mongolia and representatives from Nalaikh District Governor's Office, GIZ, Mr. Stephan Opitz KfW member of the Management Committee, representatives of GITEC, Rectorates of GMIT and council, faculties, students and staff laid the framework for building.
A concessional loan from the KfW Development Bank of Germany will fund the construction of a 5,700-square-meter multi-purpose training and research facility.
The expansion will double the capacity of GMIT's current laboratory and library, as well as establish seven new laboratories.
The German Development Cooperation is responsible for implementing the "GIZ-GMIT" initiative, which supports the campus expansion project. With an expanding scope teaching and research, GMIT will conduct additional research projects, expand industrial cooperation, and increase the number of students. Therefore, several potential to further improve the comfortable learning environment for students.
