Master students of the "Resources and Technology" master's program successfully implemented an Advanced Research Project and published a report
With the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and other German partner universities, the Mongolian-German Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) has successfully launched the "Resources and Technology" Master of Science program from the 2020-2021 academic year as part of the goal of expanding cooperation with industry.
The master's program is characterized by the inclusion of the "Advanced Research Project" course, and the first project work has been successfully implemented in 2022, in cooperation with the "Rare Earth Element research project unit" of the "Erdenes Mongolia" LLC on the topic “The study of Secondary sources as potential repositories of Rare Earth Elements in Mongolia: Iron ore tailings, coal, and coal ash”. The research report has been published in English and Mongolian. A total of 11 master's students participated in this research, and the results of the research project were presented at the "Mineral Processing-2022" and "Khureltogoot-2022" international research conferences, and we are pleased to announce that student Ms. B.Azjargal received a research grant named after the Minister of Education and Science.
Especially thanks to the "Rare Earth Element research project unit" of the "Erdenes Mongolia" LLC for supporting the implementation of this project, to the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, the companies that cooperated in collecting samples, and to the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) who supported the publication of the report.
GMIT will be open to joint implementation of the course with mining and industrial companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations in the next research project.
