110 students of the GMIT awarded by scholarships of DAAD and GMIT
The Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2021 of the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT), was successfully organized in a hybrid form of online/offline under the infection control regime, and 110 students received scholarships.
This academic year, regardless of the pandemic situation (COVID-19), the types and number of scholarships have increased, and about 40 percent of total students received tuition fee and living expenses scholarships. 48 students received scholarships from the DAAD, and 62 students received scholarships from the GMIT supported by Mongolian Government. Moreover, management team members of GMIT, German Ambassador to Mongolia, His Excellency Jörn Rosenberg, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Ministry of Education and Science, Sh.Narantuya, representatives of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), BMZ and KfW Group awarded scholarships to the recipients and wished success in their studies.
In line with striving to become a research-based, leading model university, the university aims to provide a wide range of scholarships which are financed by German and Mongolian government to GMIT students every year. As part of this goal, a total of MNT 3.8 billion in scholarships has been awarded to 535 students since its establishment in 2013. In addition to providing scholarships to a number of students each semester, it offers a 14-day Summer School with international students in Germany and China, a semester exchange program at a partner university in Germany, and a 14 weeks paid internship at German companies.
The GMIT awarded the International Program of Accreditation Certificate from Quality Seal of the Accreditation, Certification and Quality assurance Institute ACQUIN in 2019. The accredited study programs are Mechanical Engineering, Raw Material and Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Furthermore, 2 new bachelor programs which are Mechatronic Engineering and Energy and Electrical Engineering started from 2020-2021 academic year at GMIT. All these study programs are taught a 100 percent in English.
In this way, the GMIT provides the opportunity for students and graduates to work internationally in leading enterprises in line with world-class engineers, continue to learn for advanced studies in the abroad and apply domestic and international scholarships.
