SCIENCE FIELD TRIP: Inspiring Curiosity Through Hands-On Science

The German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) is implementing the **SCIENCE FIELD TRIP** program to give school students an opportunity to explore science beyond the classroom by **conducting hands-on experiments, experiencing science firsthand, and discovering their own curiosity**.

Rather than learning subjects such as chemistry, physics, and information technology solely through theory, the program encourages students to understand scientific concepts through experiments and practical activities. Students conduct experiments themselves, explore technologies, and create their own projects, allowing them to experience science and technology in a more engaging and tangible way.

The program also includes activities focused on **Growth Mindset**, teamwork, opportunities to meet and talk with GMIT students, and sessions introducing engineering careers and future study opportunities.

Through this one-day experience, the program aims not only to provide students with new knowledge, but also to encourage them to **ask “Why?” and “How?”, experiment, and seek answers for themselves**. By nurturing this curiosity, SCIENCE FIELD TRIP seeks to make science and technology more accessible and engaging, while inspiring students to develop a deeper interest in science and explore it further.

Students from Nalaikh District School No. 119 Join the First SCIENCE FIELD TRIP

The first participants of the SCIENCE FIELD TRIP program were **Grade 10–11 students from School No. 119 in Nalaikh District**.

During their visit to the GMIT campus, students explored the university’s laboratories and learning environment, conducted chemistry and physics experiments, learned about 3D printing technology, created their own designs, participated in Growth Mindset activities, and had the opportunity to openly interact with GMIT students.

The participating students gave **highly positive feedback** about the program, particularly highlighting the opportunity to conduct experiments themselves, create something new, and meet and talk with university students.

For the students, it was more than a day of learning about science. It was an opportunity to **experiment, create, and experience science firsthand**, encouraging their curiosity and allowing them to see science and technology from a new perspective.
