Abstract

Around 30 percent of production costs are spent on equipment maintenance of industries and effectiveness of industries depends on the lifetime of the equipment. Therefore, productivity is by improving based on improving the operation of equipment and inspection and maintenances. Reduction of machine available time influence output of the productions considerably. Faults in the motors are one of the main reasons to occur unforeseen breakdown in machines resulting in unplanned downtime and account for a significant part of time lost in machines. Monitoring and diagnostics incipient faults in motors are necessary on time in the progress of operating motors. Also, maintenance based on the present condition is important to propagate for reducing the number of breakdowns, increasing utilization of machines, and prevent unscheduled downtime, lost production and revenue. The need reduction by maintenance cost has raised the importance of condition monitoring. This research work is to launch online condition monitoring of electrical machines in Mongolia. It is required to develop the fresh methodology for estimating and making a diagnosis and monitoring the real condition.

Background

Faults in the motors are one of the main reasons to occur unforeseen breakdown in machines resulting in unplanned downtime and account for a significant part of time lost in machines. Unplanned maintenances are a costly overhead of total maintenance and furthermore, faults in motors consist environments that to be over the motor lifetime before the standard lifetime of machines. Sudden failures in the motor, operation of the weak condition of motors will happen harsh failure in the economics of production due to impossible to get any data of forecasting about motor inside. Even more serious is the fact that increasing overhaul frequency also increases the number of human errors during dismantling, reassembly, and start-up. Experience has shown that in the vast majority of cases, time-based maintenance is uneconomical. Hence, it is important to detect faults of motors on the basis of on-line condition monitoring. Therefore monitoring and diagnostics incipient faults in motors are necessary on time in the progress of operating motors. Also, maintenance based on the present condition is important to propagate for reducing the number of breakdowns, increasing utilization of machines, and prevent unscheduled downtime, lost production and revenue.

  • Launch the new research field as Online Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics

Expected results

Online Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics was launched in Mongolia. Two research works (Estimаtiоn unbаlаnce in rоtоr оf inductiоn mоtоrs by using vibrаtiоn аnаlysis and study on power quality of Erdenet mine) are done completely by three master thesis. In the frame of the project 11 papers were published and discussed by 11 posters and oral presentations, two conferences are organized. The experimental kids studying the unbalance of the electrical machine were developed. Measuring for electric motor by using Baker II at the repair center of Baganuur Coal Mine
